Daal ke Dahi Baray

Ingredients For Barray:

  1. Urad daal – ¾ cup (soaked overnight)
  2. Moong daal – ¼ cup (soaked overnight)
  3. Water – 1/3 cup
  4. Baking soda – ½ tsp
  5. Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  6. Salt – 1 tsp
  • Put urad daal, moong daal, water, soda, salt and red chilli powder in grinder and grind.
  • Then fry in oil until light brown.
  • If you want to serve it right away then after frying add warm water in, then squeeze with light hands and put in prepared yogurt mixture.
  • If you want to freeze it then after frying, let them cool and then freeze.

Ingredients for yogurt:

  1. Yogurt – 1kg
  2. Salt – to taste
  3. Corn flour – 1 tbsp
  4. Sugar – 2 tbsp
  5. Milk – 1 cup

Blend yogurt and add milk, corn flour, sugar and salt.

Ingredients for Sweet and sour Chutney:

  1. Tamarind pulp – 1 cup
  2. Liquorice – ground ½ tbsp
  3. Cumin seeds – 1tbsp (fried and ground)
  4. Salt – to taste
  5. Black salt – 1 pinch
  6. Chaat masala – 1 tsp
  • Take a pan and put tamarind pulp, liquorice, cumin seeds and chaat masala and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Then take out half mixture of tamarind and add sugar and your sweet chutney is ready.
  • Let the rest of the mixture cool down, then add salt and black salt.

How to Serve:

  • In a serving dish, put prepared yogurt, then dahi baray, then yogurt and on top.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander, green chillies and chaat masala.
  • Serve with sweet and sour chutnies.
