Gingersnaps Cookies


  1. Butter – 100 gm
  2. Light brown sugar – 100gm
  3. Golden syrup or honey – 100gm
  4. Plain flour – 225gm
  5. Soda bicarbonate – 1 tsp
  6. Ground ginger or ginger powder – 1 tsp


  1. 1 bowl
  2. 1 saucepan
  3. 2 spoons
  4. 1 teaspoon
  5. 1 butter knife


  • Put flour, soda and ginger into the bowl and mix it.
  • Then put butter, sugar and syrup into the saucepan.
  • Put the saucepan on low heat, until the butter melts, keep stirring it.
  • After the butter has melted, take it off the heat and let it cool a little. Then stir it until only a brown liquid is left.
  • Pour the flour mixture, into the saucepan while stirring. Keep stirring until the mixture becomes hard dough. Then put foil on to a plate.
  • Take small amounts of dough with a spoon, and scrape it of with another spoon onto the plate. Wait for a few minutes, and then shape the pieces of dough into balls.
  • Put them in to the preheated oven at 180ºC for 10 minutes.
  • Enjoy your Swiss Gingersnaps cookies with Tea!
