How to Make Batata Vada

Ingredients:

  1. Boiled and mashed potato – 1/2 kg
  2. Salt – 1 tsp
  • Add chutney and bighar in mashed and boiled potatoes, mix well.
  • Then make round shape, dip in batter and deep fry in oil until golden brown.
  • Serve with dinner roll, pao or ketchup.
  • This is one of famous Snack in India like ragda patties.

Ingredients for Chutney:

  1. Green chillies – 2
  2. Fresh coriander – 1 tbsp
  3. Ginger flaks – 1/2 tsp
  4. Thinly chopped garlic – 1/2 tsp
  5. Salt – 1/2 tsp
  6. Sugar – 1 tsp
  7. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

Grind all ingredients and add in mashed potato, mix well.

Ingredients for bighar:

  1. Oil – 2 tbsp
  2. Curry leaves – 12
  3. Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  4. Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Fry all ingredients in oil until golden then add in mashed potato and mix well.

Batter for frying:

  1. Gram flour – 1 cup
  2. Salt – 1/2 tsp
  3. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  4. Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  5. Baking powder – 1 pinch
  • Mix all ingredients in gram flour, make thick batter.
  • Dip batata vada in this batter and deep fry until golden brown.
