Lal Qila Haleem Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. Beef (boneless) – 1 kg/2 lb
  2. Wheat – 250 gm/1 ¼ cup
  3. Barley – 250 gm/1 ¼ cup
  4. Oil – 2 tbsp
  5. Gram lentil – 1 cup
  6. Yellow lentil – ¼ cup
  7. Orange lentil – ¼ cup
  8. Pigeon lentil – ¼ cup
  9. Oil – 1 cup
  10. Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
  11. Brown onion – ½ cup
  12. Salt – 2 tbsp
  13. Chili powder – 3 tbsp
  14. Turmeric – 1 tbsp leveled
  15. Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  16. Yogurt – 1 cup
  17. All spice powder – 1 tbsp

For serving:

  1. Brown onion
  2. Coriander leaves (chopped)
  3. Mint leaves (chopped)
  4. Green chili (chopped)
  5. Ginger (Julian)
  6. Clarified butter 2 tbsp
  7. Lemon slices

Method:

  • Soak wheat and barley overnight.
  • Cook in the morning in 2 tbsp oil till soft and tender.
  • Blend and keep aside.
  • Cook all the lentils with 4-5 cups water till tender.
  • Cook and blender all together.
  • Heat 1 cup oil add ginger and garlic paste, brown onion, salt, chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and yogurt fry well.
  • Add beef and add 8-10 glasses of water, cook and cover till meat tender and soft.
  • Then blend meat with a spoon, mix the meat with blended lentils and meat mixtures.
  • Again put to cook on slow flame, stirring all the time.
  • Lastly add all spice and stir well.
  • Serve garnished with brown onion, coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, ginger, clarified butter and lemon slices.
  • Serve hot.
