How to Make Nawabi Chicken Biryani: English – Urdu Recipe

When we talk about Pakistani food, we talk about biryani, and the quickest biryani method is chicken biryani. You can make it in a very short time. There are many other types of biryani, like Anarkali Biryani, Simple chicken Biryani, Chicken Tikka Biryani, but now we are making a very special biryani, which is very simple, with less spice and really tasty which is called Nawabi Chicken Biryani.

Nawabi Chicken Biryani

Ingredients:

  1. Chicken – 1kg
  2. Oil – 3 1/4 cup
  3. Boiled rice – 375g
  4. Yogurt – 250g
  5. Salt – 1 1/2 tsp
  6. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  7. Red chili powder – 1 1/2 tsp
  8. Onions – 2
  9. Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
  10. Sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
  11. Melon seeds – 1 tbsp
  12. Desiccated coconut – 1 tbsp
  13. Almonds – 5 to 6 (crushed)
  14. Mint – few leaves
  15. Fresh coriander – 1/4 bunch
  16. Green chili – 5 to 6
  17. Whole spices – 1 tbsp
  18. Kewra water – 1 tsp
  19. Yellow food colour – 1 pinch
Fry sesame seeds, melon seeds, coconut and almonds. Then grind and set aside.

Method:

  • In a pan, heat up oil, add onions and fry until golden brown.
  • Then add chicken, ginger garlic paste, fry for 1 minute, then add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder and yogurt. Mix and fry well.
  • Then add 1/4 cup of water, cover and let it cook until chicken is tender.
  • Then add grinded masala, mint, fresh coriander, green chili and mix.
  • Now take a separate pan, add 1/4 cup of water and a 1/4 cup of oil. Then spread 1/2 boiled rice, then put chicken, then remaining rice, and on top, add kewra water, yellow food colour, 2 tbsp of oil and cover and leave on dum for 15 minutes.
  • Serve with salad and raita.
