How to Make Pound Cake

Pound cake traditionally made with a pound of each of four ingredients: flour, sugar, butter and eggs. Pound cakes are generally baked in either a loaf pan or a Bundt mold, and served with powdered sugar, lightly glazed, or with a coat of icing. Other variants include adding chocolate or lemon juice for flavour.

  1. 8 Ounce butter
  2. 2 cup fine sugar
  3. 4 eggs
  4. 3 cup flour
  5. 4 tsp. baking powder
  6. 1 ½ cup milk
  7. Icing sugar for dust
  8. 1 tsp. vanilla Essence


  • Preheat oven to 180 degree C.
  • Beat 8 ounces butter and 2 cups of sugar till fluffy add 1 tsp. vanilla essence.
  • Sieve together 3 cups flour and 4 tsp. baking powder
  • Add the flour and baking powder into the sugar and butter mixture.
  • Pour the 1 ½ cup of milk and beat.
  • Add eggs one at time till well incorporated.
  • Pour into well buttered Bundt pan.
  • Bake it for 45 minutes, and cool in pan for 5 minutes, then turn onto wire rack to cool completely, dust with icing sugar.
