Quick Degi Zarda Recipe: Urdu – English

Zarda is a traditional sweet dish, made by boiling rice with food coloring, milk and sugar, and flavored with cardamoms and dry fruits. A slightly different taste is also made called degi zarda recipe, just add longs and kewra water and enjoy.

Quick Degi Zarda Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. Sella rice – ½ kg
  2. Sugar – ½ kg
  3. Clove – 4
  4. Ghee – ½ cup
  5. Candied fruit – ¼ cup
  6. Khoya – 1 cup
  7. Gulab jamun – as required
  8. Salt – ¼ tsp
  9. Green cardamoms – 6-8
  10. Pistachio, almonds – as required
  11. Orange food color – ¼ tsp
  12. Orange peel – 1 tbsp
  13. Kewra water – 1 tbsp
  14. Silver paper – 1
  15. Milk – 1/2 cup

Method:

  • Soak rice for at least 3 hours then wash and in double quantity of water put cloves, green cardamom, salt, food color and orange peel in water and boil it.
  • Now add soaked rice and cook until tendered.
  • Then strain the rice from water.
  • Take another pan; add ghee, milk, sugar and kewra water, cook until sugar dissolves. After it, add rice, cover it and simmer it on tawa.
  • When ready, garnish with candied fruits, khoya, gulab jamun, chopped pistachio, almond and silver paper and serve.
