Three Milk Cake (Tres Leches): English – Urdu Recipe

Tres leches cake, or “three milks cake” or “three milks bread”, is a sponge cake soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream.

Ingredients for cake:

  1. Egg whites – 6
  2. Egg yolks – 6
  3. Ground sugar – ½ cup
  4. Flour – 1 cup
  5. Vanilla essence – 1 tsp

Method:

  • Beat egg whites and ¼ cup sugar in large mixer bowl until stiff peaks form.
  • Combine egg yolks and remaining sugar in medium bowl, beat until light yellow in colour.
  • Fold egg whites mixture and flour alternately into egg yolk mixture.
  • Add vanilla essence.
  • Pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven on 375º F, 180º C, or Gas Mark 4.
  • Grease and flour 9 inch spring form pan for 15 to 20 minutes or until just golden and wooden pick inserted in centre comes out clean.
  • Remove from oven to wire rack.

Ingredients for filling:

  1. Condensed milk – 410 gm
  2. Whipped cream – 1 cup
  3. Evaporated milk – 5oz
  4. Orange juice or fresh milk – ¼ cup
  5. Vanilla essence – 1 tsp

Method:

  • Combine condensed milk, half cream, evaporated milk, orange juice or fresh milk and vanilla essence in medium bowl, stir well.
  • Prick top of cake thoroughly with wooden pick.
  • Pour this mixture over cake.
  • Let stand for 30 minutes or until cake absorbs the mixture.
  • Remove side of pan.
  • Beat cream, sugar and vanilla essence in small mixer bowl until stiff peaks form, spread over top and sides of cake and serve.
