Butter Naan Recipe on Tawa

butter naan on tawa

Today I am going to share a butter naan recipe in a frying pan as I already shared one of my popular tawa naan. A very easy, tender, delicious bread and without the need for an oven.

Very simple naan made from plain flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and yogurt, which gives it a delicious, soft and tender flavour that makes this naan bread irresistible to everyone who tries it. We just have to mix all the ingredients, knead and let it ferment, and then separate it into little balls that we will flatten and cook in a pan or on a skillet.

It is super versatile to eat with chicken, rice, with hummus, or just like that, because it is spread with a simple dressing, but it can be eaten on its own!

As I was saying, this Indian bread without an oven or naan bread is ideal to accompany stews and Indian dishes such as chicken tikka masala curry. I use it to dip in the creamy curry sauce, and I assure you that the combination of this spongy and tender bread, with the spicy sauce, is spectacular.

As you will see, the naan bread is usually served with butter, which we will brush and melt on the warm and freshly made bread. It’s spectacular. Well, yes, I can think of a way to make it more delicious, which is how I usually ask for it in Indian restaurants. In the video, I explain how to do this.

Method:

  • In a bowl, add plain flour, salt, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and oil. Mix well.
  • Then add warm yogurt and make smooth dough.
  • If you need some more water, feel free to add.
  • Add a bit of oil and then cover it.
  • Leave it for 15 minutes, then divide dough and make balls.
  • Now leave the frying pan to warm up a bit and roll the dough balls.
  • Add some coriander, roll this slightly so they don’t fall.
  • Apply water to the other side so it sticks to the frying pan. Carefully put the naan on the frying pan and press on the sides to make it stick.
  • When you see bubbles starting to form, turn it the other way and turn up the heat.
  • When it’s cooked from both sides, take it out.
  • Make the rest of the naan in the same way.
  • Apply butter so they look more delicious and beautiful.
