Kali Masoor Dal Chawal

Here’s a basic recipe to make Dal Chawal:
Kali Masoor Dal Chawal
Cilantro Lime Rice Recipe
Ingredients:
- Kali masoor – 2 cups
- Onion – 1
- Tomato – 1
- Spring onion – 1
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Chilli flakes – 1 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Kasoori methi – 1 tbsp
For Tadka:
- Cooking oil – 1/4 cup
- Garlic cloves chopped 5-6
- Green chillies – 3 to 4
- Dry whole red chillies – 3 to 4
- White cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Degi mirch – 1 tsp
- Fresh coriander leaves
Keto Spicy Cauliflower Rice
Method:
- Wash and soak the dal for 30 minutes.
- In a clay pot add soaked dal, onion, tomato, spring onion, ginger garlic paste, chilli flakes, cumin powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, kasoori methi and water.
- Cover and cook until dal is tender.
- In a pan heat up cooking oil. Add chopped garlic, green chillies, whole dry red chillies, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and degi mirch, mix well.
- Add the tadka to cooked dal (lentil) and cook it for 1-2 mins.
- Garnish with fresh coriander, serve and enjoy with roti or rice
Boiled Rice:
- Soaked rice – 2 cups
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Salt – to taste
- Butter – 2 tbsp
- Fresh coriander – 1/2 cup
Method:
- Add water, salt and oil in a pan, bring to boil.
- Add soaked rice and cook until rice are done.
- Drain the water, add butter and coriander in cooked rice. Toss well and cover for 5 minutes.
- Serve with dal.
Dal Chawal is often served with a side of sliced onions, cucumber, and tomato salad, or with a variety of chutneys. It’s a wholesome and comforting meal enjoyed by many.
