Easy Chicken Chow Mein Recipe: Urdu – English
Ingredients to marinate chicken:
- Boneless chicken breast – 450 gm thinly sliced
- Chinese five spice – 1/2 tsp (star anise 2, cumin seeds 1 tsp, cloves 10, black pepper 1 tsp, cinnamon sticks 2)
- Rice vinegar – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Soy sauce – 1/2 tbsp
- Black pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
Spiralized Zucchini Nest Eggs
Ingredients:
- Chow mein noodles – 8 oz (225g)
- Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp + 4 tbsp
- Garlic – 1 tbsp minced
- Ginger – 1 tbsp minced
- Green chillies – 2 julienne cut
- Onion – 1 thinly sliced
- Red bell pepper – 1/2 thinly sliced
- Green bell pepper – 1/2 thinly sliced
- Yellow bell pepper – 1/2 thinly sliced
- Shredded cabbage – 2 cups
Ingredients for sauce:
- Chicken cubs – 1
- Hot water – 3/4 cup
- Sriracha sauce – 1 tbsp
- Ketchup – 1 tbsp
- Soy sauce – 1 tbsp
- Black pepper – 1/4 tsp
Method for sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix together chicken cube, Sriracha sauce, ketchup, soy sauce and black pepper. Mix well.
Optional garnishes:
- Sliced green onions, sesame oil, sesame seeds.
Instructions:
- Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Marinade chicken and leave for 15 minutes.
- Heat up 1 tbsp of oil in a skillet/wok. Add the sliced chicken breast to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In a same skillet or wok, heat up the 4 tbsp of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced ginger garlic and green chillies. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Then add the sliced onion, bell pepper and shredded cabbage. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the skillet, then add the cooked chicken to the skillet.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the skillet.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and toss everything together until the noodles are well coated in the sauce and heated through.
- Add sesame oil along with sesame seeds.
- Serve the Chicken Chow Mein hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
