Dal Makhani: English – Urdu Recipe
Ingredients:
- Yellow Moong dal – 250 grams soaked for 2 hours
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Spinach (finely chopped) – 1 ½ cup
- Green chilies (ground) – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Fenugreek leaves – 2 bunches
- Dill (finely chopped) – half bunch
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Fresh coriander – 1 tbsp chopped

Ingredients for bighaar:
- Ghee – 1/4 cup
- Whole red chilies – 4 – 5
- Garlic chopped – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Curry – 6 to 7 leaves
Method:
- Put yellow lentil in a pan with 4 cups of water 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1 tbsp ghee, cook for 5 minutes.
- Then add ground green chili, salt, spinach, fenugreek leaves (meethi) and dill. Cover and cook till tender.
- Mix well lastly give bighaar, garnish with fresh coriander and serve with boil rice or chapatties and salad.
