Dal Makhani: English – Urdu Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. Yellow Moong dal – 250 grams soaked for 2 hours
  2. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  3. Spinach (finely chopped) – 1 ½ cup
  4. Green chilies (ground) – 1 tsp
  5. Salt – 1 tsp
  6. Fenugreek leaves – 2 bunches
  7. Dill (finely chopped) – half bunch
  8. Ghee – 1 tbsp
  9. Fresh coriander – 1 tbsp chopped

Ingredients for bighaar:

  1. Ghee – 1/4 cup
  2. Whole red chilies – 4 – 5
  3. Garlic chopped – 1 tsp
  4. Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  5. Curry – 6 to 7 leaves

Method:

  • Put yellow lentil in a pan with 4 cups of water 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1 tbsp ghee, cook for 5 minutes.
  • Then add ground green chili, salt, spinach, fenugreek leaves (meethi) and dill. Cover and cook till tender.
  • Mix well lastly give bighaar, garnish with fresh coriander and serve with boil rice or chapatties and salad.
