Every one likes moist, delicious and rich chocolate cake. Classic devil’s food cake recipe with the fudgy chocolate frosting by Anna Olson will complete your desire.
Classic Devil’s Food Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- Cake flour – 1 1/2 cups
- Coco powder – 1/2 cup
- Baking soda – 3/4 tsp
- Salt – 1/4 tsp
- Super fine sugar – 1 1/3 cup
- Butter – 1/2 cup or 112 gm
- Eggs – 2
- Milk – 1/2 cup
- Hot coffee – 1/2 cup
- Vanillas essence – 1 tsp
Preparation for Cake:
- First add all add all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl included sugar and mix.
- Then add sliced butter and beat until mixture turns into bread crumbs.
- Then add milk, vanilla essence and hot coffee in one go and beat well.
- Then add lightly beaten eggs and beat on high speed for 5 sec.
- Now pour this mixture evenly in two 8 inches of greased cake pans, give them a good tap. Then any bubbles rise to the surface and pop.
- Bake in preheated oven on 350 F/175 for 30 minutes.
- When it’s done let it cool down compeletly.
- Then decorrate with fudgy chocolate frosting.
Fudge Frosting
Ingredients:
- Baking chocolate – 12 oz
- Cream – 1 3/4 cup
- Sour cream – 1/2 cup
- Vanilla essence – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – 1 pinch
Method of fudge:
- Take a metal bowl, add chocolate and put on double boiler along with cream.
- When chocolate melts, take it of off the flame.
- Add sour cream, vanilla and salt and mix it well.
- Let it cool down for 2 minutes.
- Then apply on cake.

why do you add sour cream and hot coffee?
For soft and tasty cake.
Do you think if I halve the frosting recipe it would be enough for the cake???
I think it won’t be enough, coz if you put less frosting in the cake layer, you will not get that yummy chocolatey flavour as the recipe is called devil’s cake.
