Classic Devil’s Food Cake Recipe by Anne Olson

Ingredients:

  1. Butter – 70 grams
  2. Caster sugar – 120 grams/1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp
  3. Egg – 2
  4. Plain flour – 140 grams/1 cup plus 1 1/2 tbsp
  5. Salt – 1 pinch
  6. Baking powder – 1 tsp
  7. Lemon zest – (grated) 1 tsp
  8. Yogurt – 4 tbsp
  9. Milk – ¼ cup

For the drizzle topping:

  1. Granulated sugar – 30 grams
  2. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  3. Water – 1 tbsp

Method :

  • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Then add eggs and beat.
  • Now add yogurt, milk and lemon zest, beat for 5 seconds.
  • Then add dry mixture and lightly fold with spatula.
  • Then pour in a greased baking pan and bake in preheated oven on 180 C/Gas mark 4 for 25 to 30
  • minutes.
  • Meanwhile mix lemon juice, water and granulated sugar to make the drizzle and pour over the hot cake
  • and leave to cool in this tin .
  • Then remove from the tin and sprinkling the caster sugar on top cut the slice and serve.
