There is nothing better than smelling freshly baked bread. This is one of the best known and most appreciated breads, and not only in France. This baguette or French bread recipe brings to mind the traditional breads found in many rural areas of Italy, France and Spain, most of the time made in the form of long loaves of crusty bread, with a golden and appetizing crust.

As always, it is preferable to use strong flour, with more gluten, but you can use normal flour as an alternative. This baguette or French bread recipe is ideal for a breakfast or for an aperitif or serve with stew.

Easy French Bread Recipe

Beef Stew: Beef Stew Recipe without Crock Pot

Ingredients:

  1. Bread flour – 375 g
  2. Warm Water – 245 ml
  3. Salt – 1 1/2 tsp
  4. Yeast – 1 1/2 tsp

Method:

  • In a bowl, add warm water and yeast and give few minutes to dissolves yeast in the water.
  • flour and salt, mix and make soft dough.
  • Leave to rest, covering with a cloth, in a dry and warm place until double in size.
  • Divide the dough into three equal balls that will form our French bread or baguettes.
  • Add a little flour on a flat surface, knead the dough with a rolling pin.
  • Flatten the dough by hand squeezing to avoid air bubbles.
  • Roll the longest part in a spiral, squeezing the end a little to seal the roll, thus forming the bar. Repeat the process with the other portions of the dough.
  • Line parchment paper on oven tray and place the baguettes on the parchment paper and rest again for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Put a container with 250 ml of water in the oven (to ensure the bread does not dry out).
  • After 20 minutes make a few cuts on the top. Now reduce oven temperature from 250 to 200 and bake bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
