Ingredients for fish marination for Fish Masala Curry

  1. Boneless Fish – 250 g (hake or any boneless fish)
  2. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  3. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  4. Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  5. Ajwain (carom seeds) – 1/4 tsp
  6. Salt – to taste
  7. Garlic paste – 1 tsp
  8. Oil – 4 tbsp for fish frying

Ingredients for Curry:

  1. Onions – 1/3 cup chopped
  2. Oil – 4 tbsp
  3. Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  4. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  5. Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  6. Curry Leaves – 6 to 7
  7. Carom Seeds – 1/4 tsp
  8. Crushed cumin seeds – 1/2 tbsp
  9. Crushed coriander Seeds – 1/2 tbsp
  10. Salt – 1/2 tsp
  11. Degi mirch – 1 tsp

For Garnishing:

  1. Ginger flakes
  2. Green chillies
  3. Lemon Juice
  4. Fresh coriander

Method:

  • Apply vinegar on fish and wash it well. Pat dry and marinate with lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ajwain, salt and garlic.
  • Leave it for 15 to 20 minutes or cook straight away.
  • Then fry fish on high flame with oil for 5 minutes and set aside.
  • Now fry onion and garlic paste with 2 tbsp oil in another pot, add turmeric powder and red chilli powder and add 1 cup of water and blend this masala.
  • Pour this blended masala back into the pan. Then add curry leaves, 2 tbsp oil, carom seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, salt and degi mirch. Fry well until the oil separates.
  • Add fried fish and 1 1/2 cup water, then cook for 5 minutes.
    Lastly, garnish with ginger, lemon juice, green chillies and fresh coriander. Serve with boiled rice and enjoy!
