Chatpati Dal Kachori

Chatpati Dal Kachori is really nice and tasty. Do try in Ramadan and enjoy with your family.

Ingredients for Dough:

  1. Plain flour or chapatti flour – 1cup
  2. Salt – to taste
  3. Melted ghee – 3 tbsp
  4. Carom seeds – ¼ tsp
  5. Nigella seeds – ¼ tsp
  6. Oil – for frying

Method:

  • Mix flour, ghee, carom seeds, nigella seeds and salt, with water in a bowl and make firm dough.
  • Keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Then make small balls with the dough.
  • Now prepare the filling for kachori.

Ingredients for Filling:

  1. Chana daal (lentils) – 1 cup soaked overnight or 8 hours
  2. Red chili powder – ½ tsp
  3. Salt – to taste
  4. Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
  5. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  6. Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  7. Bayleaf – 1
  8. Whole red chili – 3
  9. Ginger paste – ½ tsp
  10. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  11. Oil – 1 tsp

Method:

  • Take a pan and heat up oil. Add asafoetida, cumin seeds, and red whole chilies.
  • Fry, then add soaked lentils along with salt and turmeric powder.
  • Mix well and add 2 cups of water.
  • Cover and cook until lentils are done and the water dries.
  • Then add garam masala powder and red chili powder.
  • Mix and mash the daal slightly.
  • Remove from heat and allow cooling to room temperature.
  • Now flatten the dough balls and spoon about 2 tbsp of the daal mixture in the center.
  • Bring the edges up to cover and seal, and place in a greased plate.
  • Fry oil, gently roll the kachori and fry until golden brown.
  • Remove from oil, drain on a paper towel and serve with potato and tomato bhujia and kheer.
