Chatpati Papdi Chana Chaat

Chatpati Papdi Chana Chaat is traditionally prepared using crisp fried papri, along with boiled chick peas, boiled potatoes, yogurt and tamarind chutney and topped with chaat masala. Due to lockdown I could not find cilantro or fresh coriander. The dish has sweet, sour, tangy and spicy flavors and a creamy and crunchy texture.

How to Make Homemade Papri: English – Urdu Recipe
Ingredients:
- Chickpeas – 1 1/2 cup boiled
- Tomato – 1 big or 2 small chopped
- Green Chilies – 3 chopped
- Cucumber – 1 chopped
- Red onion – 1 chopped
- Phulkian – 1 cup
- Boiled potato – 1 cup cut in cubes
- Papdi – as required
- Chili flakes – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Yogurt – 250 gm + 1 tbsp sugar
- Chat masala – to taste
- Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
Tamarind Sauce Chutney
Method:
- Grind chili flakes and cumin seeds in grinder. Set aside.
- Mix yogurt and sugar. Add phulkian and set aside.
- Take a bowl, add chickpeas, tomatoes, green chilies, cucumber, red onion, boiled potato, chaat masala and chili flakes masala. Mix well.
- Then add lemon juice and mix well.
Serving Suggetion:
- Add chaat in a plate, then add dahi phulkian, papdi, chaat masala (optional) and khati meethi tamarind chutney and serve.
