Chilke Wali Mash Ki Daal
There are two kinds of urad daal. One is with the skin called Chilke wali urad daal or split urad lentil and then there’s a white one which is called dhuli maash daal. Today I am going to make Chilke wali maash ki daal or split urad lentil. It’s going to be really delicious.
You can serve it with naan, and it also goes really well with rice, but I’m going to make naan to serve with it, along with salad. Enjoy this daal in the summer, because during the hot season you always feel like eating something light.
Chilke Wali Mash Ki Daal
Dhaba Daal Mash: English – Urdu Recipe
Ingredients:
- Chilke wali Daal – 1 cup (soaked in water)
- Ginger – 1/2 tsp
- Cayenne pepper – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Salt – to taste
Masala:
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Garlic – 1 tsp
- Tomato blend – 1/3 cup
- Crushed cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Crushed coriander – 1/2 tsp
- Crushed chilli – 1 tsp
Method:
- Soak the daal in water for half an hour.
- After half an hour, add the daal to a pan and boil.
- Add garlic, cayenne pepper, turmeric powder and salt.
- Now add more water and mix.
- Cover and let it cook.
- Take another pan to make the masala. Add oil and garlic, and fry.
- Now add the tomato blend, crushed cumin seeds, crushed coriander and crushed chilli.
- Turn up the flame and let it cook.
- Add the daal to the masala and cool well.
- Garnish with butter and coriander, and serve with naan or rice, as you wish.
