How to Make Homemade Papri: English – Urdu Recipe


  1. Papdis – 24 to 30
  2. Medium sized potatoes – 2 to 3 Boiled
  3. Boiled sprouted moong beans 1/2 cup or ¾ cup boiled chickpeas
  4. Finely chopped onion – 1 small
  5. Finely chopped tomato – 1 small
  6. Yogurt – 1 cup
  7. Red chili powder – as required
  8. Chaat masala – as required
  9. Roasted cumin powder – as required
  10. Sugar – as required
  11. Sev – as required
  12. Chopped fresh coriander – 2 tbsp
  13. Salt – to taste


How to Make Mint Chutney in Urdu – English
  • First boil the potatoes till they are completely cooked.
  • Peel them and then you can chop them or just crumble them lightly.
  • Steam or cook the sprouted moong beans with some salt. Drain and keep aside.
  • Stir sugar in yogurt and mix well.
  • Finely chop the onion, tomato and coriander leaves.

Ingredients for chutney:

  1. Chopped fresh coriander – 1 cup
  2. Chopped ginger – 1/2 inch piece
  3. Green chili – 4 chopped
  4. Lemon juice – 1/2 tsp
  5. Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
  6. Black salt or salt – to taste

Method for chutney:

  • With little water blend or grind all the chutney ingredients in a blender till smooth.
  • Check the seasoning and add more salt or lemon juice if required.
  • Keep the coriander chutney aside.


  • Arrange the papdis on individual serving plates. Usually one serving or one plate consists of 6 papdis.
  • Place the chopped potatoes on each papdi.
  • Then top up with some of the moong sprouts.
  • Now top up with the green chutney as required.
  • Add the sweetened yogurt as required.
  • Sprinkle a pinch or two of the chaat masala, red chili powder, and roasted cumin powder.
  • Top up with some chopped onions and tomatoes.
  • Lastly again sprinkle with a pinch of chaat masala, red chili powder and salt.
  • Sprinkle sev and chopped coriander leaves. You can also add a few drops of lemon juice if you prefer.
  • Remember chaat masala already has salt. So use salt accordingly.
  • Serve dahi papdi chaat immediately.


  1. Is papdi have be store bought or I can take the Gupchup puri (Gol Gappa Puri) recipe and make my own papdi. It’s has to be store bought. Can you clear this one out for me.
