Dal Makhani Recipe

Dal Makhani is a rich and creamy Indian lentil dish, traditionally made with black lentils (urad dal) and kidney beans (rajma) cooked with butter, cream, and aromatic spices. Here’s a recipe to make delicious Dal Makhani:

Easy Tandoori Naan
Ingredients:
- Sabut maash ki daal – 1 cup
- Desi ghee – 1/3 cup
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Blended tomato – 2
- Haldi – 1/4 tsp
- Degi mirch – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 1/2 tsp
- Kasoori methi – 1 tbsp
- Garam masala powder – 1/4 tsp
- Butter – 1 tbsp
- Cream – 2 tbsp
For garnishing:

- Fresh coriander
- Butter
- Cream
Instructions:
- Soak the black urad lentil in water. Drain and rinse the soaked lentils.
- In a pan add the lentils and water, cook until lentil is soft and mushy.
- In a clay pot or pan, heat the ghee over medium heat.
- Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry.
- Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil starts to separate from the masala.
- Add turmeric powder, degi mirch, salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked lentil to the masala along with some water, if needed to achieve the desired consistency.
- Mix well and let it simmer on low heat for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add kasuri methi, garam masala and butter. Mix well and cover for 5 minutes.
- Add the fresh cream, chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve the Daal Makhni hot with steamed rice, naan, or roti.
