How To Make Butter Chicken

Butter chicken, also known as butter chicken or murgh makhani, is one of the most popular Indian curries around the world today. It is quite a mild curry compared to many Indian curries. Butter chicken is made up of pieces of chicken cooked in a lightly spiced tomato and cream sauce.

In India, murgh makhani is usually prepared with bone-in chicken and outside of India, boneless chicken is more commonly used. As with any other dish, bone-in chicken will always give you the most flavor.

How to Make Butter Chicken

Easy Tandoori Naan

Ingredients for Chicken:

  1. Chicken – 450 gm
  2. Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  3. Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  4. Paprika powder or kashmiri deghi mirch – 1/2 tsp
  5. Salt – 1/4 tsp
  6. Olive oil – 2 tbsp

Ingredients for Gravy:

  1. Olive oil – 3 tbsp
  2. Onion small – 1
  3. Tomatoes – 2
  4. Almond powder – 1 tbsp or cashew nut paste – 1 tbsp
  5. Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  6. Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  7. Paprika powder or kashmiri deghi mirch – 1/2 tsp
  8. Salt – to taste
  9. Garam masala powder – 1/4 tsp
  10. Butter – 2 tbsp
  11. Fenugreek leaves – 1/2 tsp
  12. Fresh cream – 2 tbsp

Keto Butter Chicken Curry

Instructions:

  • Cut boneless chicken into small pieces. Add ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, kashmiri pepper and salt. Mix it well and set aside for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Heat up 3 tbsp of olive oil and sauté onions, then add tomatoes, and almond powder or cashew nut paste. Add some water and cook until tomatoes have softened.
  • Add red chili powder, kashmiri mirch or paprika, salt and ginger garlic paste. Fry well.
    Then add some water and cook until all masala is cooked well. Turn off the flame and let it cool down. Discard tomato skin and blend well.
  • Meanwhile cook the chicken in the same pan with 1 1/2 tbsp of oil until it’s tender. Set aside.
  • Now reheat the blended gravy in the same pan along with butter, then add the chicken and garam masala to it. Cook for 2 – 3 minutes.
  • Then add fresh cream and mix well. Add fenugreek leaves and mix.
  • Serve this delicious butter chicken with naan or boiled rice and enjoy.
