How to Make Kali Masoor Ki Daal
Ingredients:
- Kali masoor ki daal (black lentils) β Β½ kg (soaked for 1 hour)
- Turmeric powder β Β½ tsp
- Ginger garlic powder β 2 tsp
- Salt β Β½ tsp
- Coriander powder β 1 tsp
- Red chili powder β 1 tsp
- Raw mango or tamarind pulp β 1 tbsp
- Garam masala powder β 1 tsp
Method:
Take a pan, add soaked and washed daal, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, red chili, salt, coriander powder and water, cook until daal is tender. Then add raw mango or turmeric pulp, garam masala powder and little bit of water and cook for few more minutes. When its done pour bighaar and serve with boil rice or zeera (cumin seeds) rice.
Ingredients for bighaar:
- Ghee or oil β Β½ cup
- Cumin seeds β 1 tbsp
- Chopped garlic β 2 tbsp
- Dry whole red chilies β 10
Method:
Take a frying pan, heat up oil or ghee and fry chopped garlic, red chilies and cumin seeds until light brown, pour on daal and serve.

How much water should be added? Kindly mentio that
Anon, just add water until 1/2 inch above the lentil, after that you can adjust if lentil needs to cook more. Don’t worry if you added extra water, can be reduce on high flame coz lentil looks nice if its little bit soft.
