Quick and Easy Chicken Nihari
Many times you tried beef nihari, but most people don’t like to eat beef, but cannot resist nihari’s smell, so why not try chicken nihari and enjoy the same taste of spices and smell.
Ingredients:
- Chicken – 1 ¼ kg
- Oil or ghee – 1 cup
- Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
- Chapatti flour – ¼ cup
- Plain flour – ¼ cup
- Nihari masala – 4 tbsp
- Salt – to taste
- Fresh coriander – 2 tbsp
- Ginger flaks – 2 tbsp
- Chopped green chilli – 4
- Lemon slices – as required
Method:
Heat the ghee in a pan; add ginger garlic paste and chicken, fry until it turns white. Then put salt and nihari masala, fry for 5 minutes. Then add 1 litre of water. Cook on high heat till the liquid has evaporated. Then add flour mixture gradually, keep stirring until it starts boiling. Now cook on low heat until chicken is tender. When done, serve after 15 minutes with green coriander, green chillies, lemon slices and ginger flakes.
Nihari Masala:
- Star anis– ½ flower
- Dry ginger – ½ tsp
- Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
- Green cardamom powder – ¼ tsp
- Nutmeg powder – ¼ tsp
- Mace powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – 3 tbsp
Mix all ingredients and grind well and use in nihari.
