  • Sugar β€” 1Β½ tbsp
  • Yogurt β€” ΒΎ cup
  • Oil β€” ΒΌ cup

Dry Ingredients:

  • Plain flour (all-purpose) β€” 565 g

  • Baking powder β€” 1Β½ tsp
  • Salt β€” 1Β½ tsp

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Method:

  1. Mix wet ingredients
In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, yogurt, and oil. Stir until smooth.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Make the dough
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix and knead into a soft dough (slightly sticky is fine).
  4. Rest the dough
Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Divide
Divide into 10 equal portions and shape into balls.
  6. Roll
Roll each ball on a lightly floured surface to slightly less than ΒΌ inch thick.
Lightly sprinkle water on one side.
  7. Cook on tawa
    • Heat a tawa (griddle) on medium heat.
    • Place the naan water-side down on the tawa.
    • When bubbles form and the surface starts to dry, flip the tawa upside-down over the flame (about 5 cm / 2 inches above) to cook the top.
  8. ⚠️ The naan will stick β€” this is normal.
  9. Finish
    • Cook until nicely browned.
    • Remove and brush with butter (or garlic butter).
    • Stack on a plate and cover with a cloth to keep warm.

πŸ”₯ Important Tips:

  • ❌ Do not use a nonstick pan β€” the naan won’t stick.
  • βœ… A cast-iron or heavy steel tawa works best.
  • For extra flavor, add:
    • Minced garlic
    • Nigella seeds (kalonji)
    • Fresh coriander
    • Butter + pinch of salt after cooking
