Sweating doing sports or not having good hygiene (both bodily and oral) are not the only factors that have to do with body odor. Certain foods, such as cured cheeses, asparagus or very spicy dishes not only cause bad breath, but also make you sweat a stronger aroma. Today we offer five tricks with which to keep odors at bay.

1. Avoid drying off with towels that are wet. Not only is it nicer to towel dry with a perfectly dry towel, but it also helps prevent odour.
The moisture that accumulates in the skin folds, for example under the chest or between the toes, is perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungi, that mix with sweat, not only causing irritations but odor.
2. Do not brush just your teeth: if you want to have fresh breath, do not forget to brush your tongue as well as teeth. The tongue is covered with thousands of taste buds that can hide small particles of food, which, upon contact with saliva and the air cause odor.
Brush your tongue well (preferably with a toothpaste that contains chlorine dioxide) after each meal, and you can avoid bad breath.
3. Control your stress levels. Perspiration does not happen only after sports or when you’re really hot: stress is one of the most influential factors in sweating (which is why many people’s palms sweat when they’re nervous).
It is a defense mechanism of our body to prevent overheating. So now you know: if you want to prevent odors, try to control your moments of stress.
4. Make use of infusions or lotions made from plants with antibacterial or fungicidal properties, such as sage, apple or lettuce
5. Heartburn: the gastric reflux causes bad breath when climbing up the esophagus. To avoid this phenomenon, limit the consumption of very spicy foods, coffee, citrus and very fatty foods because they take much longer to digest and multiply the chances that the heat will rise into the esophagus.
