How to Make Shish Taouk or shish tawook is a traditional Arabic and Turkish shish kebab, which can also be found in Lebanese, Syrian, Egyptian and Iraqi cuisines. Chicken cubes are skewered and grilled. Common marinades are based upon yogurt or a tomato puree, though there are many variations. Shish taouk is typically eaten with garlic paste toum.
How to Make Shish Taouk
Ingredients:
- Boneless chicken – 1
- Paprika powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Egg – 1
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Yogurt – 8 tbsp
- White pepper – 1 tsp
- Onion paste – 2 tbsp
- Oregano – 1 tsp
- Fried crushed cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Nutmeg powder – 1 pinch
- Garam masala powder – ¼ tsp
- Fried crushed dry coriander – 1 tsp
- Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
- Tomato ketchup – 2 tbsp
Method:
- Cut chicken in cubes, apply all above ingredients and leave for 1 hour.
- Then skew on skewers and bake in preheated oven on 180 degree for 25 to 30 minutes or grill.
- When it’s done, serve with toum (Lebanese garlic sauce).
