It is a personal creation after searching and trying different types of lemon cake recipes, I was finally able to come up with a recipe in which the cake is very fluffy and achieves a lemon flavor and aroma that feeds into the plain and simple cake.
Plain Cake Recipe
Lemon Drizzle Cake Slices
Ingredients:
- Soft butter – 200 g
- Ground sugar – 1 cup
- Eggs – 4
- Yogurt – 4 tbsp
- Flour – 1 1/2 cups
- Baking powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – 1/4 tsp
- Lemon essence – 1 tsp
- Yellow food colour – 1 pinch or few drops
How to Make Pound Cake
Method:
- Take a bowl, add butter and sugar and beat with electric beater until smooth cream.
- Then add eggs 1 by 1 along with lemon essence and yogurt. Beat until sugar and eggs are mixed well.
- In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt.
- Add this flour mixture in egg mixture and beat.
- Add yellow colour and mix well.
- Now put this mixture in loaf cake pan and bake in preheated oven on 350º F, 180º C and gas mark 4 for 40 to 50 minutes.
- Serve this super moist plain cake with tea or coffee.
